The Sheriffs of Sussex County
In November of 2017, Sheriff Giles won election to serve out the remainder of Sheriff Bell's term.
Upon the death of Sheriff Bell in June of 2017,  E. L. Giles, Sr. was sworn in as the 71st Sheriff of Sussex County.

On July 31, 2007 Sheriff Raymond R. Bell was sworn in as the 70th Sheriff of Sussex County,
to complete the term of E. S. Kitchen, Jr., who has retired after serving 27 years as Sheriff.
November 6, 2007 Sheriff Bell was elected to his first term as Sheriff of Sussex County.
November 8, 2011 Sheriff Bell was reelected to serve a second term as Sheriff of Sussex County.
November 3, 2015 Sheriff Bell was reelected to a third term as Sheriff of Sussex County.
