D.A.R.E. and School Resource Officers

The Sussex County D.A.R.E. program  is conducted during the school year for the 6th grade middle school students.  Deputies Barbee and Wyche are certified D.A.R.E. instructors.  Both Corporal Johnson and Deputy Barbee serve as School Resource Officers.

Deputy Roderick (Rocky) Barbee and Deputy Crystal Wyche teach the program using nationally certified materials and methods known to promote Drug Abuse Resistance through Education.  In addition to her D.A.R.E. Instructor duties, Deputy Wyche serves as Sussex County 911 / Emergency Communications Supervisor and Coordinator.

Corporal Johnson is assigned to Sussex Central High School and Deputy Barbee serves at Sussex County Middle School.  They maintain security for students and staff alike.  Their presence alone is a deterrent to potentially serious disciplinary problems.  When problems do occur, they are on the scene to diffuse tense situations and to take action to safeguard life, limb, and public property.
